Advanced Medical Imaging

Bioxydyn, spun out from The University of Manchester through UMIP, is developing an oxygen enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique for functional imaging of the respiratory system.  Lung imaging is now possible in a practical way for the first time using consumables and equipment routinely found in any normal medical centre with an MRI suite

The business model is initially providing imaging services supporting clinical trials for novel therapies to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and asthma, but ultimately Bioxydyn intends to develop a diagnostic tool to complement MRI imaging. Mark Rahn oversees MTI’s investment in the company.
